#784: You Might Have ADHD, or Not

I just watched a music video
by that guy and his wife
about all the ways you
might behave if you had ADHD.
It was, like all their stuff,
really good, but I didn’t make
it through the whole thing.
I looked down
at my wrist to find out what
time it was and noticed
that I wasn’t wearing my
watch. I knew I had it on
earlier when I took the
dogs for a walk. Where’s
my watch, I thought.
And there it was on the
desk but I couldn’t
remember taking it off
and that kind of bugged
me. Why’d I take it off?
Why can’t I remember
taking it off? I don’t think,
really, that I have ADHD,
but I do know that I intended
to see the Billie Eilish film
today and now it’s too late.
And I know that I am
developing a hatred for
my stupid smart phone,
and I regularly have a
fantasy about a detox.
Just one day, I think, to
see if I could do it and
to see what effect it
might have on my day
and on my brain. Should
it be tomorrow, or the
next day? If not now. . .
but it can’t be now
because I just watched
that music video about
what you might do if
you had ADHD and a
bunch of other dumb
things that I scrolled
through, like that comic
who films himself talking
to himself about the
first time something ever
happened, you know, that
guy. There are two of
them, actually, the American
guy and the Australian guy.
They’re both really good.
I also really enjoy that
good looking English man
who interviews all those
really smart people.
I like exposing myself
to smart people but I fear
it might be making
me dumber after all.
Maybe tomorrow I will
put down my phone for
an entire day and see
what happens.
